Welcome to the

Trinlaymire Solar project website

Proposal for a Solar farm and energy system

Ampyr Solar Europe is developing proposals for a solar farm and energy storage system, situated near Threemiletown in West Lothian. Part of the site was formerly a shallow coal mine, but it is now gently undulating agricultural land, bound by woodland and the B9080 road.  Its development as a solar farm will be a major step towards a sustainable future for a growing city. A Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) was submitted to the Local Planning Authority in September 2022 and will be followed by local public consultation.

The project will be able to supply the electricity needs of 9,400 homes per year

The clean energy generated will save on average 15,400 tonnes of carbon per year

AMPYR is exploring supplying cheap power to major local power users

Biodiversity is a key aspect of detailed project design

Community consultation

We submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to West Lothian Council on 27th September 2022 to start the important process of engaging with the local community while we continue our investigations and detailed designs. We are due to hold a consultation meeting on Thursday 10th November 2022 at Ecclemachan Community Centre between 12:00 and 2:00pm, then again between 6:00pm – 8:30pm. This website will be kept updated throughout the development process to keep the community informed on our plans and to receive feedback.
